We’re building a library of articles and resources for women involved in small business, and in the process, it occured to me that maybe women do not require “special” articles or resources to help them in small business. Then I realized I didn’t know the answer. So I’m asking, particularly of women”
Do you feel that women still face additional obstacles in starting and founding small business as compared to men?
Or, for that matter, make any comments that seem generally relevant. Educate us.

Women do still face a certain amount of discrimination. For example, there are still places here in the USA where women are required to get their husbands to co-sign a commercial loan before the bank will okay the financing — even in cases of quite successful firms that are well established in their communities.
In addition, there is a fairly substantial body of research (most of which is available from the National Women’s Business Council, http://www.nbwc.gov) that pretty firmly establishes that (1) women run their businesses differently than man do and (2) when it comes to business management training, women learn differently than men do.
Hope this helps.
